Welcome to the Rebellion.

Win or learn - Our girls never lose.

Rebellion Mission

Coaches’ Promise

Be a part of the Rebellion.

Many talented girls tryout for travel teams and don’t quite fit what the coaches are looking for. They tryout time and again, giving it their all, under the pressure to impress adults they’ve never met, and never told they had little or no shot to make the already established roster. And most times, they don’t receive feedback from the coaches; they are ghosted and left frustrated and deflated.

The Rebellion is looking for 16U and 18U girls who have the talent and passion to play softball at a high level. Girls who have great instincts for the game, love to play, are coachable and scrappy. Girls who understand the game is for them, not their coaches or parents, and who know the game is fun, and that winning takes hard work.

These girls don’t quit. They are fearless. They show desire, determination and dedication. They are hungry to prove that they belong. They are resilient and strong. They want to improve through positive feedback and honest critique. They are willing to put in the practice required to get better. The skills are there - a little instruction and some mechanical tweaks and these girls shine. They are fighters. They battle through adversity. They win or learn; they never lose. These are Rebellion girls.

One Team, One Fight

Softball is life.

Every at bat, every swing, every pitch, every grounder or pop fly presents a new opportunity to succeed or learn. The philosophy of the Rebellion reflects this idea. We are dedicated to helping the girls develop a winner’s mindset. Each player can do this, they just need a bit of encouragement, and the will and the discipline to do so.

Western Loudoun 16U and 18U Rebellion was born out of the idea that there is growth and learning through adversity. There may be girls who are more talented, but there’s no excuse for being outworked. Our girls will scrap and fight to the very last out - supporting and playing for one another through the toughest of practices and the most challenging of games - because quitters never win and winners never quit.

Below you will find our Mission Statement and our Promises. Our first promise is to regularly revisit our Mission Statement and ask ourselves a simple question each time:  Are we doing what we say we are doing?

Every champion was once a contender that refused to give up.

Rebellion Mission

Through practice, position clinics, and tournament play, we foster excellence, leadership, and a winner’s mindset. We teach players to pursue excellence with a passion and to push themselves and others to perform well in every aspect of their lives, on and off the diamond.

In turn, we expect our players to:

  • Perform at a high level: Whether in practice or in a game, passion and drive must be on display.

  • Desire to improve: This means being open to learning new skills and enhancing existing talents. Rebellion girls are always listening and learning.

  • Exhibit fearlessness: Normalizing nerves as motivation to swing harder, run faster, and dive farther.

  • Be competitive: Never giving up regardless of the competition or the score. Our Rebellion girls will fight hard to the end without the pressure of “win at all costs.”

  • Have fun: Working hard doesn’t mean we can’t have a good time! We’ll ensure practices are competitive and fun; however, we expect seriousness in the heat of battle.

  • Exhibit a team-first mentality: Cheering each other on, pushing one another to be better, encouraging each other to stay strong - all attributes of a winner’s mindset.

  • Show enthusiasm for the sport: Softball is life. Allow the game to teach lessons beyond the field of play.

  • Respect their coaches: We will relentlessly use positive reinforcement, as well as open and honest feedback to help our players achieve their potential. We may be tough sometimes but we’ll never disrespect a player or a parent.

  • Respect their teammates: Every player will be working her butt off to help the team succeed. We’ll support one another through rough patches.

  • Respect their competition: While we want to win every game, we will play ethically, and we will be courteous and encouraging to our competition. We appreciate the opportunity to play against the best competition the region has to offer.

  • Understand sport is a means to fitness: Both physically and mentally. We’ll run. We’ll stretch. We’ll strength train. We’ll work on being better all-around humans too.

  • Earn a championship swagger: A winner’s mindset takes will and determination. No one will hand us a chip. We will work hard to earn every hit, every out, every W. And we’ll celebrate with humility when we do.

Coaches’ Promise

  • To communicate openly, honestly and often with the girls. We will never ghost a potential player.

  • To communicate openly, honestly and often with parents

  • To give every girl the chance to excel at their preferred position but…

  • … Play each girl at the position that puts them and the TEAM in the best position to succeed

  • To set a high bar for both player and parent conduct

  • To prioritize local 16U/18U tournaments over out of state ones

  • To be as affordable as possible - no girls with the talent, requisite skills and the passion to contribute to the Rebellion shall be excluded for financial reasons
